The company was founded in 1890 by Heinrich Ehrhardt (1840-1928). He was a gun maker. Famous products were Mauser pistols and Oerlikon pistols. After the First World War, the company produced office machines, typewriters, calculators, etc. started to produce. The headquarters of the factory was in Erfurt.
